It’s @designival tomorrow and open studios start. Due to a few last minute projects, building works and un-expected bits and bobs… we’re not going to have a full compliment of staff to answer any questions… but we’ll still be here for 2 hours putting on Coffee, cakes and towards lunch time a nice bit of pulled beef taco’s!! And if theres a pressing matter we can make you an appointment to pop back on Friday. We can talk CG & post production and will review portfolios if required. Generally we’ll just be having a natter and a cake!!

We’re on the move!! New 3,500 SQ FT office for the sparkle* HQ in Liverpool. The refurb starts this week and we hope to be in by mid November. The new office is located in the new creative quarter in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle. As well as expanding to new premises we’ve partnered with Liverpool’s premier Digital Consultants Focus Innovation to join us in the new building. Sparkle* have worked with Focus on Several projects this year and will now continue the relationship by working in this joint creative space. We’re also really excited that Liverpool’s Smiling Wolf have come on board to help us brand and create a really exciting work space. www.smilingwolf.co.uk
The new space will continue to house the CGI and video end of Sparkle* with new onsite elements added such as training and Stereo 3D viewing facility.
Thanks to everyone who has helped out, we’re looking forward to sitting down with Focus and Smiling Wolf to create a new and exciting digital hub taking us into 2012.

Every day we get lots of CV’s sent into our office, I don’t read a single one.
Harsh your thinking but i have very good reason. I’m quite dyslexic and most of the words mean nothing to me, we work in a visually medium, we have the opportunity to create images that only your imagination defines. So why bog things down with a list of jobs since you where 12 and have no relevance of where you are right now?
If your applying for a job at a bank, then you’d expect the CV.. but i expect a portfolio, i’ve been doing my job for about 15 years and sometime I see just one image from someone and it’ll say more than any 3 page CV ever will.
One line emails also don’t work, speak to people as if there in the room.. not “Hi, here’s a link to my work, i’ll take any job you have going”. Introduce yourself, say hello!!!
Most of the CV emails and letters come across as begging letters, when all it takes is a simple introduction and a link to some work. Theres no point telling me how good you are in a 1000 word email, show me. Its not how much work you can produce, a few pieces, a little work in progress and some breakdowns go along way.
Look into the company your applying to, we get a lot of people applying for jobs in areas that we don’t cover and never did, web design, tv production, runners and yes.. fork lift truck driving.
We’re very approachable people in sparkle* HQ.. by all means send us your work, introduce yourself.. ask for feedback, we’ve some great talent in our office and we’re quite happy to help people out on your way to be a rising star. BUT… don’t send us CV’s, they go in the bin. Send us exciting images, send us exciting WIP, send us exciting breakdowns or just ask for advice.
Be creative, make pretty pictures.

When not to use 3D #slayer. When it can all be captured on film don’t use 3D, great video from Slayer using great close ups of thick gooey treacle. It helps when Slayer have also been my fave band since in my teens
